Grafting cold game mechanics onto heart-warming story, Future Proof Games continues the unconventional tradition of Melissa and Gregory Avery-Weir's games. Our games are art, and we will explore the frontiers of interactive entertainment.
We create prophetic games that demand audacious compassion from our players and bring about dramatic social change. Our work encourages compassion and empathy for the uncomfortable and the alien, producing a more nuanced ethical perspective. We want our players to have fun becoming more insightful, thoughtful, and nurturing people.
Gregory Avery-Weir began doing browser games, receiving recognition for "(I Fell In Love With) The Majesty of Colors," "Exploit," "How to Raise a Dragon," and "Looming," among others. They're known for dark themes, artsy narrative, and lo-fi pixel art.
Melissa Avery-Weir has years of experience as a web developer and writer. They created the "Transhuman Congress" series of flash fiction and blog on social justice and technical topics.
Gregory and Melissa formed Future Proof Games in 2012 with the intention to create larger, more rich works and evolve the state of the art in game design. Their first major release is the game Ossuary.

If Ossuary is an example of the type of brave, thoughtful, engaging games that Future Proof will be producing, the fledgling studio’s future is bright, indeed.
